Peter Goldreich is an American astrophysicist and Lee DuBridge Professor Emeritus at Caltech, celebrated for foundational theoretical work on planetary rings, orbital resonances, pulsars, astrophysical masers and helioseismology. He received the National Medal of Science in 1995 and the Shaw Prize in Astronomy in 2007. Born in New York to a Jewish immigrant family (his father from Hungary, his mother's parents from Lithuania), his Jewish background is noted in Jewish biographical references.
