Goldmark was a Hungarian-American engineer at CBS who developed the long-playing (LP) 33⅓ rpm microgroove record and an early field-sequential color-television system, and later pioneered video and electronic-imaging technologies. He received the US National Medal of Science in 1977. Born into a Jewish family in Budapest, he emigrated via Britain to the United States.
