Percy Faith (born to a Jewish family) was a Canadian-American conductor, arranger and composer, a leading figure in mid-20th-century orchestral 'easy listening' and film music. His lush arrangements sold widely, and his recording of the 'Theme from A Summer Place' was a chart-topping instrumental hit. He shaped the sound of popular orchestral music for a generation.
