Nádas is a Hungarian writer of Jewish origin, widely regarded as one of Europe's major living novelists. His vast novels 'A Book of Memories' and 'Parallel Stories' offer dense, philosophically ambitious explorations of memory, the body and twentieth-century history; Susan Sontag called 'A Book of Memories' one of the great books of the century. He has received numerous international literary honours. He is of Jewish background.
