Oscar Shumsky

Shumsky was an American violinist and conductor, a prodigy who studied with Leopold Auer and Efrem Zimbalist and was long regarded by fellow musicians as a 'musician's musician'. Praised for his tonal beauty and command of Bach and the Romantic repertoire, he pursued a distinguished solo, chamber and teaching career, gaining wider public recognition through celebrated later recordings. He is documented among Jewish musicians.
