How & why
Bronisław Huberman was a Polish violin virtuoso who, in 1936, founded the Palestine Symphony Orchestra — today the Israel Philharmonic — rescuing scores of Jewish musicians from Nazi Europe by bringing them to perform in Palestine. Born to a Jewish family in Częstochowa, he was Jewish.
