How & why
Nikolaj Znaider is a Danish violinist and conductor of Polish-Israeli Jewish parentage who won the 1997 Carl Nielsen Competition and the 1997 Queen Elisabeth Competition and built an international career as a soloist, later serving as principal guest conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre orchestra. He performs on the 'Kreisler' Guarneri del Gesù violin. He was born and raised in Copenhagen.
