Joseph Silverstein was an American violinist and conductor who served as concertmaster of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 22 years and as music director of the Utah Symphony. Born in Detroit and first taught by his father, he is documented in the Milken Archive of Jewish Music; he studied at the Curtis Institute and won the Naumburg Award in 1960.
