How & why
Moe Howard (Moses Horwitz, 1897-1975), his brother Curly Howard (Jerome Horwitz, 1903-1952), and Larry Fine (Louis Feinberg, 1902-1975) formed the core of the slapstick comedy trio The Three Stooges. All three were American Jews; the Howard brothers were born to a Jewish family in Brooklyn and Larry Fine to a Jewish family in Philadelphia.
