Miriam Fried

Miriam Fried is a classical violinist celebrated for her interpretations of Bach and the Romantic repertoire, and the first woman to win the Queen Elisabeth Competition. She is Jewish, born in Romania and raised in Israel from early childhood; she later became a leading teacher, notably at the New England Conservatory. She has performed with major orchestras worldwide and led the Ravinia festival's chamber-music program.
