How & why
Daniel Hope is a South African-born British-Irish classical violinist, soloist, chamber musician and broadcaster, and a longtime advocate for music suppressed by the Nazis; he was the youngest member of the Beaux Arts Trio in its final years. He is of Jewish German descent through his mother's family, whose Berlin relatives fled Nazism, together with Irish ancestry. He records exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon.
