Milana Vayntrub was born into a secular Jewish family in Tashkent and came to the United States as a refugee at two, her family having left the Soviet Union because of antisemitism. Known widely as 'Lily' in AT&T's advertising and as the voice of Squirrel Girl, she went to Greece in 2015 to work with arriving refugees and co-founded the aid project Can't Do Nothing.
