Michael Sporn

Michael B. Sporn was an American cancer researcher who introduced the concept of 'chemoprevention' — using agents to prevent or reverse cancer before it becomes invasive — and coined the term 'retinoids' for vitamin A analogs, later developing synthetic triterpenoid drugs. He led chemoprevention research at the National Cancer Institute and Dartmouth. He is included in scholarly listings of Jewish scientists.
