How & why

Braverman is a theoretical computer scientist at Princeton who made foundational contributions to computational complexity and to information complexity, which treats the information revealed in a computation as the resource to be conserved; he won the IMU Abacus Medal (formerly Nevanlinna Prize) in 2022. Born in the Soviet Union, he studied at the Technion in Israel before earning his doctorate in Canada. He is a Jewish scientist of Russian-Israeli background.
