Wittgenstein was one of the 20th century's most influential philosophers of language and logic, author of the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus (1921) and the posthumous Philosophical Investigations (1953), which reshaped analytic philosophy. Three of his four grandparents were born into Jewish families; the family had converted to Christianity and he was baptized Catholic, but he was acutely conscious of his Jewish ancestry and reflected on it in his notebooks.
