Lewis Robert Wolberg was a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst known for his work on medical hypnosis and psychotherapy; his textbooks 'Medical Hypnosis' and 'The Technique of Psychotherapy' trained generations of clinicians, and in 1945 he founded New York's Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. Born in Russia and brought to the United States as an infant, he was of documented Jewish origin (his life is recorded in the Encyclopaedia Judaica).
