How & why
Leon Botstein is a Swiss-born American conductor, music historian and educator, longtime president of Bard College and music director of the American Symphony Orchestra, known for reviving neglected orchestral repertoire. He is the son of Polish-Jewish physicians who escaped Nazi persecution, and he later served as music director of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.
