Lazarus Immanuel Fuchs was a German mathematician who founded the theory of linear differential equations with analytic coefficients, whose regular-singular equations are called Fuchsian in his honour; Fuchsian groups and functions also bear his name. He was a professor in Berlin. He was Jewish.
