Kurt Grelling was a German logician and philosopher, a member of the Berlin Circle of logical empiricism, who in 1908 formulated the Grelling–Nelson paradox concerning self-referential adjectives. He was Jewish; after fleeing Nazi Germany to Belgium he was captured and murdered at Auschwitz in 1942. His paradox remains a standard example in the study of semantic antinomies.
