Kenneth Flexner Fearing was an American poet and novelist, a leading voice of Depression-era social poetry and author of the noir thriller The Big Clock. His middle name comes from his mother, Olive Flexner, who was of Jewish descent and a cousin of the educator Abraham Flexner; his Jewish ancestry was thus partial, on his mother's side.
