Juliusz Schauder is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Functional analysis; the Schauder fixed-point theorem

How & why

Schauder was a Polish mathematician of the Lwów School whose fixed-point theorem and Leray–Schauder degree theory became essential tools for proving the existence of solutions to nonlinear differential equations. He was Jewish and was murdered by the Gestapo during the Nazi occupation.
