Jacob T. Schwartz was an American mathematician and computer scientist at NYU's Courant Institute, co-author of the monumental treatise Linear Operators, and a founder of the SETL programming language and of work in robotics, parallel computing and computational geometry. He founded NYU's computer science department. He was Jewish.
