Jacob Levy Moreno, born into a Sephardic Jewish family, was a psychiatrist who founded psychodrama, group psychotherapy, and sociometry, the study of social relations through measurable networks. Emigrating from Vienna to the United States, he pioneered role-playing and action methods in therapy that transformed clinical and social psychology. His sociometric ideas anticipated modern social-network analysis.
