Isaac ben Sheshet Perfet, known by the acronym Ribash, was a leading Spanish Talmudic authority whose collection of responsa answered legal questions that also engaged philosophy, astronomy and the science of his day. After anti-Jewish riots in 1391 he fled to North Africa, where he served as rabbi of Algiers; he was a devout Jewish scholar of Halakha.
