Isaac Rosenberg was a British poet and artist, one of the greatest of the First World War poets, whose 'Break of Day in the Trenches' and 'Dead Man's Dump' render trench warfare with stark, original imagery. He was Jewish, born into a family of Lithuanian-Jewish immigrants in Bristol, and was killed in action on the Western Front in 1918.
