Henryk Torunczyk

Toruńczyk, a Polish Jewish mathematician, is known for his deep results in infinite-dimensional topology. His characterization theorems identify, by intrinsic topological conditions, when a space is a manifold modeled on the Hilbert cube or on Hilbert space — landmark results that resolved central problems in the field. He has worked at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the University of Warsaw.
