Hans Liepmann is recognized among Jewish contributors to Science & Medicine — Physicist; gas dynamics and turbulence
Hans Wolfgang Liepmann was one of the twentieth century's leading aerodynamicists, whose research on gas dynamics, boundary layers, transition and turbulence shaped modern high-speed aeronautics. Born into a Jewish family in Berlin, he left Nazi Germany, studied in Zurich and joined Caltech, where he directed the Graduate Aeronautical Laboratories (GALCIT) and received the U.S. National Medal of Science and Technology. His textbooks trained generations of engineers.
