How & why
The Czech-Jewish composer Hans Krása wrote the children's opera Brundibár, which was performed dozens of times by young inmates of the Theresienstadt ghetto. Deported to Auschwitz, he was murdered there in 1944; his opera survives as a testament of resistance and hope.
