Hannah Moscovitch is recognized among Jewish contributors to Arts & Literature — Canadian playwright; East of Berlin, Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story, Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes
Hannah Moscovitch is among the most performed Canadian playwrights of her generation, from 'East of Berlin' — a son of a Nazi war criminal confronting what his father did — to 'This Is War', 'Old Stock: A Refugee Love Story' and 'Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes', which won the Governor General's Award. She was the first Canadian woman to receive the Windham-Campbell Prize in drama. Her father is Jewish, of Romanian and Ukrainian background, and her mother comes from a Christian family of English and Irish descent; she was raised an atheist and speaks of an implicitly Jewish sensibility in her plays.
