Gyorgy Lukács is recognized among Jewish contributors to Philosophy & Social Sciences — Hungarian Marxist philosopher and literary theorist

How & why

Lukács was a Hungarian Marxist philosopher and literary critic whose History and Class Consciousness (1923) reintroduced Hegelian dialectics and the concept of reification into Marxism, deeply influencing Western Marxism and critical theory, while his later literary studies shaped Marxist aesthetics and realism. He briefly held office in Hungary's revolutionary governments. He was born into a wealthy assimilated Jewish family (born György Bernát Löwinger).
