Franz Waxman was a German-born American film composer who scored more than 140 Hollywood films, winning back-to-back Academy Awards for 'Sunset Boulevard' and 'A Place in the Sun.' Having fled Nazi Germany, he also founded the Los Angeles Music Festival. He is Jewish.
