Frankfurter was a U.S. Supreme Court Justice and constitutional scholar, a leading advocate of judicial restraint who served on the Court from 1939 to 1962. Born into a Jewish family in Vienna, he emigrated as a child, became a Harvard Law professor and helped found the American Civil Liberties Union. He was one of the most influential legal minds of his generation.
