Ernst L. Freud was an Austrian-born British architect who built in the Art Deco and modernist manner in Berlin and then in London — Frognal Close, Belvedere Court, and the consulting room he designed for Melanie Klein in Hampstead. He was the fourth child of Sigmund Freud and Martha Bernays; he left Berlin for London in 1933 when the Nazis took power, and the family were naturalised British at the end of August 1939. His sons were the painter Lucian Freud and the broadcaster Clement Freud.
