Ernest Gold was an Austrian-American film composer who won the Academy Award and two Grammy Awards for his score to 'Exodus' (1960), among the most recognized of Hollywood's epic themes. Born Ernst Sigmund Goldner in Vienna, he fled with his Jewish family to the United States after the 1938 Nazi Anschluss.
