Emilia Bassano Lanier is recognized among Jewish contributors to Arts & Literature — Poet / lyricist
Aemilia Lanier (born Bassano) was among the first women in England to publish a volume of original poetry, 'Salve Deus Rex Judaeorum' (1611), which includes an early defence of women. She came from the Bassano family of Venetian court musicians whose origins are widely thought to have been Jewish or of converso descent, though the point is debated. Her book is a landmark of early modern women's writing.
