Emil Waldteufel is recognized among Jewish contributors to Arts & Literature — Waltz composer
Emil Waldteufel was a French composer and pianist celebrated as a master of the waltz, whose sparkling dances — above all Les Patineurs (The Skaters' Waltz) — made him the French counterpart to the Strauss dynasty and a favorite at the courts of Europe. He served as court pianist and director of court balls in Paris. He was born into an Alsatian Jewish family of musicians.
