Eli Goren

Eli Goren, born Eli Grünberg to a Jewish family in Vienna, was a violinist who served as leader of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra before settling in Britain, where in 1953 he founded and led the acclaimed Allegri String Quartet. He later became co-leader of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and, from 1982, taught at the Utrecht Conservatory. His long career spanned orchestral leadership, chamber music and teaching across several countries.
