Touitou is an Israeli computer scientist who, with Nir Shavit, introduced and gave the first implementation of software transactional memory (STM) in a 1995 paper, a concurrency mechanism now widely studied in parallel computing; the work earned the 2012 Edsger W. Dijkstra Prize. He worked in the School of Mathematical Sciences at Tel Aviv University.
