Cornelius Lanczos is recognized among Jewish contributors to Technology & Engineering — Devised Krylov-subspace methods and early Fast Fourier Transform work.

How & why

Lanczos, a Hungarian-born mathematician and physicist, devised the Lanczos algorithm for eigenvalue problems and did early work on the Fast Fourier Transform. Born Kornél Löwy to a Jewish family in Székesfehérvár, he worked in Germany, the United States and Ireland.
