How & why

Strouse was a Broadway composer, trained at the Eastman School and under Aaron Copland and Nadia Boulanger, who wrote the scores for Bye Bye Birdie, Applause and Annie, winning three Tony Awards and creating the standard 'Tomorrow'. He also composed the theme for the TV series All in the Family and music for the film Bonnie and Clyde. He was Jewish.
