Charles Reznikoff was an American poet, a central figure of the Objectivist movement, known for spare, precise verse and for long documentary poems such as Testimony and Holocaust, built from legal and historical records. Much of his work draws on Jewish history and the immigrant experience. Born in Brooklyn to Russian-Jewish immigrants, he was Jewish.
