Rakosi (born Callman Rawley) was an American poet, one of the founding figures of the Objectivist movement alongside Zukofsky, Oppen and Reznikoff, known for precise, image-focused verse. After a long silence he resumed writing and, living to 100, became a revered elder of American poetry. He was born into a Hungarian Jewish family in Berlin.
