Bernard Abram Lippmann was an American theoretical physicist who, with Julian Schwinger in 1950, formulated the Lippmann–Schwinger equation, a cornerstone of quantum scattering theory that reframes scattering problems as integral equations. The result remains standard in nuclear, atomic and particle physics. He was Jewish.
