How & why
Anna Langfus was a Polish-born French writer and Holocaust survivor whose novels confronted the trauma and aftermath of the Shoah, winning France's Prix Goncourt in 1962 for 'Les Bagages de sable'. Having lost her family and first husband in the war, she wrote in French about survival, memory, and displacement. She was Jewish and a survivor of the Warsaw ghetto and Nazi persecution.
