Amos Oz was one of Israel's foremost novelists, author of 'A Tale of Love and Darkness' and dozens of works translated worldwide, whose fiction and essays gave voice to Israeli society and to the search for peace. A founder of the Peace Now movement, he won the Israel Prize and many international honors. He is Jewish.
