Abraham Ibn Ezra was a medieval Jewish poet, biblical commentator, grammarian, philosopher and astronomer, one of the most distinguished figures of the Spanish-Jewish golden age. After leaving Spain around 1140 he wandered across Italy, France and England, writing influential Hebrew grammatical works and a widely studied commentary on the Bible. He was Jewish and wrote extensively in Hebrew for Jewish communities beyond the Arabic-speaking world.
