Taika Waititi is recognized among Jewish contributors to Arts & Literature — Oscar-winning writer-director of 'Jojo Rabbit' and 'Thor: Ragnarok'.
Taika Waititi is a New Zealand filmmaker who won the 2020 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for 'Jojo Rabbit' and directed the Marvel blockbuster 'Thor: Ragnarok.' His father is Māori and his mother, Robin Cohen, is of Ashkenazi Jewish (Russian-Jewish) descent; Waititi has spoken publicly of his Jewish heritage, and 'Jojo Rabbit' satirizes Nazism from that vantage. His blend of comedy and pathos reshaped both independent and studio cinema.
