How & why
Ballmer joined Microsoft in 1980 as its first business manager and served as CEO from 2000 to 2014, presiding over major revenue growth; he later bought the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers. His mother, Beatrice Dworkin, was Ashkenazi Jewish (family from Belarus and Poland) and his father a Swiss immigrant; Ballmer describes himself as an ethnic Jew and had a bar mitzvah in 2015.
