How & why

Robison was an American sociologist and criminologist who taught at the New York School of Social Work and, in Can Delinquency Be Measured? (1936), showed that official statistics greatly undercounted juvenile crime, influencing how delinquency was studied and treated. She was also a pioneer of Jewish demography, whose Jewish Population Studies (1943) statistically analysed northeastern U.S. Jewish communities. She was Jewish, the daughter of a Jewish immigrant from Germany.
