Robert Aumann is recognized among Israeli contributors to Economics & Business — Game Theory
How & why
Aumann, born to an Orthodox Jewish family that fled Nazi Germany for the United States in 1938, became a mathematician at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He advanced game theory through the analysis of «repeated games», showing how cooperation, conflict and long-term strategy can be understood when interactions recur over time. He shared the 2005 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences.
